How to Make a Field Mandatory

  1. There are two types of field that you can make mandatory in Tracker, a general database field or a custom field. You want to start by clicking on your name in the top right and then select “Tools and Settings.”

  1. To make a custom field mandatory you will click on the custom field box and click on “Get Started.”

  1. You will want to locate the custom fields section and click on the custom field you would like to make mandatory. Go ahead and click on that custom field and a pop up will appear.

4. Once this pop up has appeared there will be a toggle labeled “Mandatory” go ahead and toggle that button to “Yes” to make this field mandatory and then hit “Ok.” Make sure you always hit “Save Settings” at the top of the screen as well.

  1. To make a regular data base field mandatory we will want to click on the “Back to Tools” button and this will bring us back to our home page of “Tools and Settings.”

6. Here you will want to locate the customization tab and then select “Mandatory Fields.”

  1. From here you will see that you will want to select the record type that you want to make mandatory. Select the record type from the drop down and then check the box that you want to make mandatory in this record type. This page does not require a save, so now that field that you checked off will be mandatory in the selected record type.
